Aires & Horse Riding in Salta
7 Days / 6 Nights Buenos Aires, Salta, Calchaquíes Valleys |
||
| You can enjoy a wonderful landscapes of the Argentinian Northwest, crossing the Calchaquíes Valleys in an incredible horseback riding trip. The most interesting aspect of this journey is that we'll be able to see the different landscapes of Salta, ranging from the green forestof the Valle de Lerma with trees up 20 metres high (22 yards), to the giant cacti area and the multicoloured hills of the Valles Calchaquíes. Meanwhile, in the sky, we shall see in various parts of the journey condors, which will join us in our travel with their peaceful flight. And if we are lucky, we might see foxes, vizcachas and a few guanacos and llamas. Another attractive aspect of our trip is that every night we'll sleep in "puestos" which are the houses of the people who live in the mountains. We will thus be able to share the lifestyle of the people of the area. |

The main characteristic of this first day is the great vegetation, since we will cross the closed forest with trees of up to 20 meters. This whole day we will follow the course of the river Las Pircas and in several parts of the road, the "baqueanos" will go opening step in the forest with its machete. Different parrots and other birds of the place will accompany us during the whole trip with their "noisy" songs. Locked in the stateliness of the place, we will arrive to the "Puesto del Churqui", our first stop, where the people will we waiting for us with "empanada salteñas" (typical meal) to recover the energy. |

Day 4 - After the breakfast around the vent, we leave this place to west toward our second stop, the town of Amblayo. In this day, the change of vegetation is very incredible, since as we ascend, he/she goes disappearing the great forest to open the way . Everything becomes a great green field where we will be able to see the wild horses greeting our presence. When arriving approximately to the 3000 meters, there is the step for which is entered to the Valles Calchaquíes. The green that accompanied us, disappears totally to leave step to the typical red earth of these Valleys, with the "cardones" like only inhabitants of that lonely area. When beginning the descent, we will go into for the "cardonales" to arrive at the town of Amblayo, where we will spend our second night. This small town (150 hab. ), it is famous for their well-known goat cheese, to the one that we will be able to observe as the "puesteros" they prepare it and the best thing......, at night, to eat it accompanied by a lamb to the grill. |
||
| Day 5 - We carry out a visit to the town and their very old Church and at noon we will leave toward Isonza, our third stop. This is a typical day of the Valles Calchaquíes with their multicolored hills, their red earth and the imposing "cardones" that will impact us with their great height, some of which it ends up measuring up to 15 meters. At the coast of Rio Salado will be able to do some remains of the indigenous cultures as paintings and remains of colored pots with the typical figures. With the imposing mark of the Andes, we will find the property Isonza. At night, we will return to it Jumps taking them to the hotel where they indicate us. | ||
| Day 6 - This will also be a day of big changes in the landscape, because we will undertake the return to the Valley of Lerma. When beginning to take height we will go again toward the chain of mountains that separate both valleys. After a couple of hours of horse ride the La Cuesta del Chilo, the point of more landscape contrast appears before our view. These almost 3000 meters high, they allow us to have an imposing view of the whole area, allowing us to discover the nascent of the River Chilo. The marked slope that waits for us, forces us to get off the horses, and to leave them so that they lower alone, and the whole group will spur on the animals so that they are not dispersed. The loose horses, the imposing view and the amusing slope, they complete one of the points cúlmines of the horse riding. Once under the hill, we recapture road for the coast the river Chilo. The stateliness of the green mountains full with animals, contrasts strongly with the solitary "cardones" of the Valles Calchaquíes. The road will continue for the "Cañadón" formed by the River Chilo, sometimes very closed wide, but many times, the one that becomes a great corridor with walls of up to 40 m. Crossing the different rivers, we will return to the closed forest of the first day. When advancing, the first signs of the civilization will begin, as the sowed corrals, the animals pasturing, and little by little they begin to appear those "changuitos" who leave running of their humble houses, to greet our step. At night, we will return to Salta, transfer to Portal de Salta Hotel 4* with breakfast. | ||
