| Because
of its geographical isolation, Chiloé was in a way, unaware of the battles
occuring in the continent. These lands were not conquered and explored as
the rest of the territory, but rather there was only a recognition time
followed by a possession as opposed to more conflicts. Together to the Spanish
conqueror and different to the mapuche to the north, the chilote people
were monogamous, sedentary, and have a docile, peaceful and very religious
lifestyle. It is this way also of the current chilote and calbucano: characterized
by their wrinkled eyes and round face. We invite you to live with them,
to work at their side, to share their pains and happiness, together with
the impressive beauty of their landscapes, channels, and exquisite gastronomy,
in a warm and unforgettable family atmosphere. The trip begins in the jetty of Calbuco, in front of the Hotel of the same name on the coast of the "Island of the blue waters". It is located in the route toward Pargua (and Chiloé) approximately 1 hr. by bus from Puerto Montt; At 14:30 P.M. we will embark in a regular boat. There, our guide is waiting for us. He will accompany us the whole journey to the Island. We will navigate through the channels to the Island of our destination. On the selected island we will have the opportunity to live; sharing the task of fishing, the collection of shellfish, the care of the pigs, sheep and the hens and to cook with our guests, enjoying the magic of story-telling around the kitchen table. All in an environment of virgin beauty, in contact with the earth and with people of strong but simple spirit that will make us alive with their lifestyle and their warmth. |
